New poem...

Over the past couple of days I have been reflecting with friends on a recently deceased friendship, I then found myself later fondling a little figure; a souvenir of thriving friendship times. Once I put the figure back on my desk I couldn't ignore the emotions or urge to write. I don't think we ever let go of friends entirely...

Measures Of Friendship

Uptight, we applied measure for measure.
Each wrenched the scales.
Our pedestal pale, nodding…

Until, my hand like lotus flower, quivers.
Unfurls for revival…

Petals conclusively wilt.
My hand draws back.
To eternally covet ruin and remnants of our dead bounty.

I hope you all have a brilliant year.
