Poetry update for you all...

So I'm not so sure now that it will be complete for next month, mostly because I am espiecally both indecisive and pendantic. Therefore as I write new poems I continually flit back and edit previous ones over and over; there are now around 6 versions of each. Someone at the Urban Arts Centre suggested that perhaps I could include a couple of versions of some of them in the same way there are various versions of of the same song. A very interesting idea that I will definitely consider I think but for now, it's mostly all fluttering around still!

Much in the same way, I tend to 'karp' around; not so long ago me and some friends decided which Pokemon(a tenacious and ever welcome indulgence that began when I was about 11) we were most similar to and mine of course had to be Magikarp! I feel like 'karping' around is pretty much my permanent disposition in life, I'm not quite sure why I do rather enjoy indulging in this rather pathetic and useless caricature of what feels like myself. It's probably my bizzare roundabout way of self love I guess!

I also have a couple of draft versions of the booklet with the collection thus far so I can begin to get a feel of it overall which is eye opening because I find that I have to begin to sequence them even roughly. It becomes exiciting as you begin to physically see a coherency, well at least until my indecisive nature ruins it anyway! I'm playing around with the idea too of where the spine of the book should be as the interaction with the poems is totally different depending on which way they are accessed. There does of course remain the ease of access to consider also, we shall see...

I shall leave you with some samples from my collection and a new poem...

Simple This Dark

So uncouth, so onerous this light.
Invasive.
Flick switch
For harsh meddlesome
wakefulness...

Ocean Of Satin Repose

                          The lull you nestle into;
 where it feels
 like an eclipse of time.
        An ocean of satin repose…

Here is a poem inspired by some of  Robert Mapplethorpe's photography that I've been enjoying recently...

Without Colour

Soft rubbed grey
paralleled in glass.
Cupped in supple
oyster hands.

Silken black
creased, sheer.
Rests on pattern
of shadowy flames.

New texture
revealed
without facet of colour.

At last...I also desperately wanted to say to any of you who look at my blog, no matter how little or often that I am eternally and deeply grateful that you do. Seriously, it does thrill me beyond belief when I see I've had blog views so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will try my best to post more often and not let work and life get in the way so much!
