It really has begun...

So me and the other remembrance poets from the Urban Arts Centre were invited to perform at the launch of Voices of War and Peace at the University of Birmingham's new First World War Engagement Centre which is an amazing Arts & Humanities Research Council initiative in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr Nicola Gaud and I personally feel she did an amazing job. The event was so inspired and diverse; such a scope of perspective and information and so well delivered.  I felt so honoured and proud to be part of a very well-rounded launch. It really was wonderful to perform alongside sharp brilliant writers and I'm incredibly excited for the upcoming weeks.

Here is the piece I performed at the event:

Ripe

You were ripe;
after thwarted mark
and prestige stripped you
of honour.
Falling behind, you thrust
a choice austere.

Acrimonious seeds
quenched by paranoia;
The nourishment of
this plan.

You tramped,
overcast this precious halcyon
with enmity.
So that they may
choke on
and join
in Krieg.

More to come soon <3
